Description
Challenging climate & lots of travel requirements
Here, we look at a medium-sized school in a small town setting in the Middle East.
In terms of delivering on a carbon free agenda, this is possibly the most difficult scenario for a school to be in. The extremely hot weather for 9 months of the year coupled with an open plan learning envirionment, relatively low enrolment and extensive requirements for staff and student travel mean that this school is one of the most challenging locations to go carbon neutral.

“Carbon offset schemes allow individuals and companies to invest in environmental projects around the world in order to balance out their own carbon footprint”

“Carbon offsets are useful while infrastructure and industry make the transition to electric mobility, alternative energy and the new technology is necessary for low- and zero-carbon lifestyles.”

“[The] global potential for action is a big reason that carbon offsets are such a valuable tool to address climate change.”

“Carbon offsetting has benefits at both ends of the process: it helps environmental projects that can’t secure funding on their own, and it gives businesses increased opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint.”
